Event Details

No turning back – The period of Purification and Enlightenment ushers in a period of deeper spirituality for both the Elect and Candidate. This workshop will offer an engaging look at the period which accompanies the liturgical season of lent.

The workshop will include information on:

  • Catechesis in this period and why it is different than other periods
  • Preparation for and celebration of the Scrutinies
  • The Presentations of the Creed and the Lord's Prayer
  • The Preparation Rites on Holy Saturday
  • The Baptized and the Penitential Rite

Kathy Kuczka is the director of music and liturgy at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Alpharetta, Georgia. An award-winning journalist, she spent years covering news for CNN. The Diocese of Cleveland Office for Worship assists the Bishop in his role as "Chief Steward of the mysteries of God and the overseer, promoter, and guardian of the liturgical life of the Church in Cleveland".

In addition, the Office for Worship among other things is responsible for the following significant matters: formation and preparation of liturgical ministers; preparation of diocesan liturgies; educational programming concerning implementation pertaining to the Rites of the Church; overseeing RCIA programs including their implementation in parishes as well as formation of RCIA ministers and teams; being a resource for parishes and other diocesan institutions; overseeing the implementation of Built of Living Stones in the building and renovation of churches and chapels.
